Guards Division Corps of Drums Association - 2005/10/19 12:58
Just 'stumbled' into your site and thought I would give you a shout. I was a little before your time with the 1st and 2nd Battalions ( 1950-1963), but thhe old feelings never die. I did briefly 'rejoin' thw 2nd Battalion in 1990, at Chelsea, to celebrate my 40 years service in regular and TA. Stan Jackson was the Drum Major then, and one of his younger drummers is now the drum major of the 1st Bn - but I expect that you already know that. I might also inform you you that we have started up a Gaurds Division Corps of Drums Association and at present we have 8 ex-Coldstreamers and 20+ Grenadiers. We are performing our first function on Grenadier Day in July, and have been booked for the Yeoman Warders 'Hanging the Brick ceremony at the Tower of London in December. Amongst the members are Pete Nightingale and Jed Lawton - know either of them ? We are actively recruiting now and hope to get some more ex-drummers interested soon.
