Dear All
Please note change of telephone number and e-mail for Peter Nightingale.
I am sorry this is at short notice again this year but as you know the Battalion are in Afghanistan until approximately April. I am in contact with Ben Roberts the Drum Major and he has given me Saturday the 26th July 2008 as a provisional booking, he has spoken to the Regimental Sergeant Major and this is the date that they think is best. I have informed Ben that we will go with this date and it will only change if he or the Regimental Sergeant Major says so.
The Drum Major will not know duties or commitments until he returns.
This letter and e-mail attachment will be going out at the same time.
The format will be the same as last year.
1330-1400 Assemble in the Gym for a full practice. (Don’t worry Don and Phil there will be no PT(Tea and Coffee))
When completed, retire and sort out for the evening get-together. (Phil to the Pub)
1900-1930 Assemble in the Sergeants Mess
1930 Corps of Drums Display
2000 Curry/ Lasagne and Chips
The rest of the evening will be taken up with war stories from the serving drummers and libations purchased from the Caterer.
A Raffle will be held and donations will be greatfuly received. Any monies made from the evenings raffle or donations will go to the Coldstream Kids Charity run by Franco Gasparotti. Please look at the attachments.

Accommodation:
There is a limited amount of beds, contact can be made with the Drums Sergeant when he returns from the Afghan, and I will let you know the details when available.
The cost will be £10 per. person. Cheques made payable to “Coldstream Drummers Reunion”. Any left over monies will go to the charity.
Wives, girlfriends and sweethearts are invited to the reunion. If you have serving family members in the Battalion, they will be made welcome.
Please could we have numbers and cheques sent to Nigel when possible please?

Regards
Peter Nightingale
Nigel Hoadley

Peter Nightingale will be contactable on e-mail up until the 15th May, then on his telephones.

Latest Fundraising Initiative – The Tommy Leech Appeal:
In April 2008 and continue so that he is ready in time for secondary school in September Many of you will remember the sad death of L/Sgt. Carl Leech who lost his life in a car accident travelling home to Middlesborough from his post at Catterick. Not only did he leave a widow but a very young son Tommy who tragically was born without ears and hearing, operations to rectify this could not be done till he reached the age of 10. Tommy has now undergone tests which determined that this is possible, but can only be done in Germany at the cost of £50,000.
(Info below taken from the TFM Radio Site)
Tommy was born early due to complications and was born without any ears. Tommy’s dad, Carl Leech, was a Sergeant in the Coldstream Guards and he was killed in an accident when Tommy was one year old. Tommy, who will be ten in February and his mother, Lisa Leech, now live alone in Hemlington and his mother has long term health problems.
Tommy’s inner ear does work but it’s difficult for him to hear anything. To best express the level of Tommy’s hearing it has been described to “trying to listen to a conversation whilst under water”. Tommy wears a hearing aid and attends a mainstream school – Hemlington Hall Primary. Tommy has therapy and can speak, which is a massive achievement in itself as the hospital said he would never be able to speak.
After several operations, Tommy has a bone anchored hearing aid with a skin graft over the top and it was after this that Tommy could hear his first sounds. It is unfortunate that the NHS cannot perform any operation to open the ear canal and attach ears. The option to go private at Great Ormond Street Hospital can only provide Tommy with synthetic ears that will not help him to hear and are for cosmetic purposes only. For more information on Tommy's condition and the ear reconstruction process please visit the following website:
http://www.makeachildsmile.co.uk/mediacentre/calendar/tommy-leech-fund

The only way for Tommy to get fully functioning ears is to go to Germany and consult surgeon Professor Ralph Siegert, who will carry out the operation. Each ear will need two to three surgery sessions and it is only possible to operate on one side at the time. If all goes to plan the first of the operations will take place
For more information on this appeal or to make a donation, please contact Vice President of the Coldstream Kids Charity Mr Malcolm Clay Finkill on Tel: 01642 479 463
